Help us out by preregistering
If you plan on coming to the Atlanta Winter LAN 2010 hop on over to Intel's site and preregister. This will help us estimate attendance and prepare for the event. If you haven’t already preregistered the URL to do so is https://lanfest.intel.com/?page=event&sub=register&eventid=1381 . You don't have to prepay if you don't want to however please sign up for the event if you plan on attending. If you have any questions about how to preregister you can contact us by going to the Contact Us page and sending us your question. Other than that things are coming together. We have posted the current teams that plan on attending to this point on the forums. Also we have posted almost all of the tournaments and the rule sets. So make sure you check them out on the Event Page. As we close in on the LAN check back with us as we will be posting more updates frequently.
Winter LAN Launch
I am glad to announce the Launch of the Winter LAN Fest. The dates for the LAN will be 11:59 PM February 12, 2010 – 11:59 AM February 14, 2010. For this LAN we will be working with Intel LAN Fest guys along with F7Lans in co-op mode to put on an Epic LAN party. The location of this extravaganza will be Greystone Power and we have about 100 seats to fill and they will go fast! So make sure you prepay online and reserve your seat by going here. We are using Intel's website for registration so when you click on the link don't be confused when it takes you to another site. Prepay registration will be $25 and if you pay at the door it will be $30. All money raised will go to charity! We haven't nailed out all of the details for the tournaments , but I can tell you that we WILL HAVE a Call of Duty 4 , Counter Strike: Source , and a blast from the past tournament ( Details on event page). All of which will be free to play in and we will have some big prizes from Intel and other sponsors to give away! For more details check the event page by clicking on the LAN PARTIES tab and check out the forums. Also check out the Intel LAN Fest website @ http://www.lanfest.intel.com for details aswell.
Winter LAN update and F7lans LAN
A lot has been happening in the last month, and although the site may not reflect it we have been hard at work! We have been working with Intel LAN Fest to bring Atlanta another amazing LAN. Right now we are still on for a winter event. We are looking at dates in late Jan. early Feb. timeframe. We have almost all the details hammered out however we cannot announce everything because we have to get everything approved on the backend. What I can tell you is that we are going to have the biggest event yet and we will have Intel with us along with F7lans to put on an amazing event. One thing that I can announce is that we will be having tournaments for our favorite games like usual. You can check out some of these by going to the event page and look at the list of tournaments that we are planning on hosting. Prizes for the tournaments will be posted when we post all the final event information so stay tuned.
Also if you have time this winter break F7lans will be hosting a 3-Day LAN at the Gaming Arena January 8- 10. Some of the other A.L.F staff and I will be there to help out and get in on some of the gaming action. Details can be found on their webpage http://www.f7lans.com.

Tell Infinity Ward We Want Community
Apparently the folks over at Infinity Ward think they have a better solution to dedicated servers. Apparently in the upcoming Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 there will be NO dedicated servers and NO mod support. This means that all games will go through a match maker system. They state that you will still be able to have private games, but of course they will be invite only, sort of like custom games on Halo 3. As a person who has been playing the Call of Duty games since they first came out I am quite disappointed in this announcement. Dedicated servers are the lifeblood of a community and create a place where it is easy to play with community members and other players alike. We don't want to have to invite all of our friends into the same game! If you feel the same way other feel please sign this petition! http://www.petitiononline.com/dedis4mw/petition.html

The MW2 backlash started this weekend. Here are the key points which had gamers in an uproar:
- -We're doing a lot on the backend to make the game accessible for everyone.
- -There is no delay for the PC version of MW2
- -There's prestige mode
- -Jason West at the MP event, said that he was dead on, on the matchmaking servers. We've been building a system on the backend called IW.NET.
- -You are completely reliant on IW.NET. There are no server lists. There are no dedicated servers.
- -You have private matches where you can customize the game
- -You cannot put MW2 on a dedicated server.
- -This is the first time we've ever done something like this and the team has huge plans for what IW.NET develops into.
- -Customizing your game...you have quite a few options in a private match
- -You're getting same game (as in Console), plus matchmaking and private match.
- -Server admin point-of view, NO DEDICATED SERVERS
